Student teams

At the University of Twente, we have several Student Teams which are building sustainable vehicles to compete against teams from other universities worldwide. In those teams, students from different programmes bring together scientific education and research with a lot of fun!

Green Team Twente is a multi-disciplinary student team that builds the most efficient hydrogen car in the world. As a proof of concept Green Team Twente competes every year in the Shell Eco-Marathon. In 2019 we became world champion at the Shell Eco-Marathon. Next to this, we focus on creating more hydrogen and sustainability awareness. We try to realize this by creating a documentary, a local exhibition, vlogs, an educational workshop on highschools and much more. Do you want to follow our journey? We are Solar Boat Twente, a multidisciplinary student team building a solar powered boat. This boat sails on hydrofoils, almost making it look like it's flying. We call that foiling, which reduces the waterresistance of our boat significantly, thus making it more efficient. Desigining and developing this boat is all about hydrodynamics and effeciency. Our mission is to inspire the maritime sector to become more sustainable, because sustainable innovations are lacking in that sector. Want to know more? Have a look at our website!

Solar Team Twente is a team which competes in the World Solar Challenge and designs, builds, and races a car running exclusively on solar energy. It’s a race straight across the Australian outback; 3000 kms from Darwin to Adelaide.
Solar Team Twente functions as a completely independent student endeavour. The team members design, build and test the car themselves and will independently look for opportunities to cooperate with businesses, educational institutions and the media. For more information visit our website.
