Chair - Hannah Vennekens

Hi! My name is Hannah and I'm 22 years old. I originally come from a small village near Venray. In 2022, I moved to Enschede to start my Bachelor's degree in Technical Medicine, which I completed last year. Besides my studies, I enjoy spending time with friends. On Tuesdays you can often find me with my year club and on Thursdays with my dispuut.

After my Bachelor's degree, I was looking for a new challenge, which led me to the Kick-In Committee. Here I fulfil the role of Chair this year. As Chair, I am responsible for the planning, policy-making, and the overall functioning of the committee.

I have now experienced the Kick-In four times, both as a kiddo and as a do-group parent. These experiences have shown me how special the Kick-In can be: in a short amount of time, you meet many new people, get to know the city, and build a strong foundation for your student life. Because I look back on my own Kick-In experiences so positively, I was eager to contribute to organising the Kick-In myself. With this committee year, I hope to give new students the same wonderful start to their student life that I had myself.

Secretary - Bart Griepsma

Hey! My name is Bart, and I'm 21 years old. I come from the beautiful town of Twello, a village near Deventer. I started my Bachelor's degree in Technical Computer Science in 2022, which I completed earlier this year. At the beginning of my third year, I joined Dispuut Yorinf, and I also play volleyball at Harambee. I enjoy spending my free time with friends and playing sports.

Before I decided to continue my studies and start with my Master's, I was looking for a different challenge, which is how I ended up at Kick-In. This year, I'll be taking on the role of Secretary. This means I'm responsible for communication, from contacting participants to communicating with associations and organizations at the University of Twente.

My own time as a kiddo was an experience I'll never forget. I have many fond memories of it and think it was a perfect start to my student life. I would love to be able to set something like that up for new students!

Treasurer - Evi Beers

Hii! My name is Evi, I’m 21 years old and grew up in Almere. In 2022, I started my Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering & Management, and this September I will begin a new master’s program. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, I’m a member of the fraternity (Dispuut) SIGMA, and I spend many fun evenings with my housemates in Huize Sarijopen. I also like to sport. Over the years I’ve played field hockey at DHC Drienerlo and football at V.V. Drienerlo, and now I play tennis at T.C. Ludica.

I joined the Kick-In Committee because I look back at my own Kick-In, the Kick-Ins where I was a crew member, and the years I was a do-group parent, with great fondness. Every year, it’s an incredibly fun period, you get to meet many new people, the atmosphere is always amazing, and there are countless activities to explore the associations and the city. Next to that, my parents were also very enthusiastic for me to organise the kick-in as they met each other when they were doing the committee in 1991!

Within the Kick-In Committee 2026, I hold the position of Treasurer. As Treasurer, I am responsible for creating the budget and ensuring it is followed. With my committee year, I hope to give new students just as great an experience as I had myself.

See you at the Kick-In!

Publications - Mattis Witte

Hey,
My name is Mattis, and I am 22 years old. I am from Wilhelmshaven, a city in the north of Germany. In 2023, I moved to the Netherlands to start with my studies of Applied Mathematics. Next to my studies, I also became active at Abacus, taking on several committees. In my free time, I like to do Cardistry, a hobby that is so niche, you probably haven’t heard about it. In short, you could say it is about fancy card shuffling.

My own Kick-In was a great introduction to this university. Moving here from another country was a scary step at first and I thought I needed to figure everything out on my own, but during the Kick-in, I met so many people who became friends quickly. So, in the years after, I got involved in the Kick-In as a Do-Group parent and as an OKIC, organizing the faculty part for Applied Mathematics. This year, I decided to take on an even bigger challenge and become part of the Kick-In Committee myself.

Within the Kick-In, I do the Publications. Which means, I am responsible for all the visual aspects of the Kick-In. Part of that is designing the theme-based logo, the magazine, crew clothing, participant bags, banners, and lots of other things you can see at the Kick-In. Also, I take care of the social media and organize several programme parts to put together a great Kick-In for all the new students.

Logistics - Axel Frankema

Hey, I’m Axel (even though most of you will know me as Jelmer), 21 years old and now in the middle of a board year for the Kick-In. Here I will take up the logistics role, to ensure everything will be at the right place at the right time. Although this is completely new for me, I’m very enthusiastic to make a wonderful year of it, and to put down a terrific Kick-In!

Outside of this wonderful daily work, I love to play tennis at Ludica, spent time with friends, and obviously like to chill on the couch every once in a while. After this year I will proceed my Master of Civil Engineering in the water track.

And why am I going to be busy with this for a whole year? Partly because I enjoyed my own Kick-In as a kiddo and really want to give back on this to the next years. Also, I have joined the Kick-In as a Do-Group Parent, what made me even more enthusiastic to do more for the upcoming Kick-In. So, I hope with all my heart that this year we will make something as beautiful as previous years! Mostly I wish to make sure that together we make a wonderful and nice time of it again!

External Affairs - Kim Hartemink

Hi, my name is Kim, I am 21 years old and I come from the one and only Enschede. In 2022, I started the bachelor International Business Administration at the University of Twente, which I completed last year. During my first year, I joined the student association A.S.V. Taste, where I became part of a year club and joined the women’s dispuut Leone Rode. In my free time, I enjoy working out and spending time with friends.

In the year between my bachelor’s and master’s degree, I wanted to do something different from studying. Therefore, I chose to take on a board year at the Kick-In. This year, I fulfil the role of External Affairs, which means I am responsible for maintaining contacts and collaborations with the external parties involved in the Kick-In.

When I participated in the Kick-In myself as a kiddo, I had the time of my life. During the Kick-In, you are introduced to all aspects of student life, giving you the opportunity to discover and shape your own path. In my second, third and fourth year, I was also involved in the Kick-In as a do-group parent, during which I experienced many wonderful moments that I will always cherish. I hope that we can make this Kick-In just as unforgettable for all new students!
